General Description of Leech Extract for Cosmetic
The miracles lies in the Hirudinaria manillensis saliva which contain several bioactive compounds that valuable for skin care purposes. The valuable bioactive compounds identified are hyaluronidase, collagenase, tryptase inhibitors and destabilase. These components function generally to promote skin healing process, increase skin permeability and reduced inflammation. Closed clinical trial done to 20 patients with abrasion wound showed significant improvement of period of wound healing.
